The hotel

Ryokan-style inn in old Kyoto

The inn is three wooden townhouses joined around a moss garden. Each room has tatami floors, a low table and futons laid out by our staff while you are at dinner.

We are on the Shirakawa canal in Gion, the old entertainment district. In the evening the lanes are lit by paper lanterns and you may see maiko on their way to work.

  • Kaiseki dinner

Questions

What guests ask

The four questions we hear most.

Is dinner included?

Yes. Every stay booked on this website includes the nine-course kaiseki dinner and breakfast.

Are the baths shared?

No. Each cedar bath is booked privately for 45 minutes, so you always have it to yourself.

Do I sleep on the floor?

On futons laid on tatami, which is firmer than most beds. If you would rather have a raised bed, ask us and we will add a mattress topper.

How do I get from Kyoto station?

A taxi takes about 15 minutes and costs around ¥2,000. Or take the Keihan line to Gion-Shijo and walk six minutes.
